RocReport – Connecting citizens to civic authorities

RocReport is a platform for the people and civic authorities to connect with each other. People can report problems such as broken lamps, snow pile up on road etc. and they will be notified when the authorities take action on the problem.

Screenshot_2014-02-23-20-17-01It was developed in 24 hours by  Angel Cambero Ramos, Debjit Saha and me for the Rochester Civic App Challenge. And we got first place for it at the kickoff hackathon.

As of now, we have a website and an Android app. Users can report problems using either the Android app or the website. People who do not want to sign up can also report through Twitter tweeting #rocreport with geolocation enabled.

There is more to come. We plan to create an iOS app and open up the API so that other developers can use it.

It is completely open source and you can view the source code on github:

The demo website is live at
